Non-starved mucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates cause a high death rate in strains of mice.

چکیده

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that affects many patients in a hospital setting as well immunocompromised patients. resistant to antibiotics because of the formation biofilms and pigmentations serving virulence factors. isolates are either mucoid or alginate-producing non-alginate-producing (non-mucoid) isolates. The main objective this experiment was analyze pathogenicity non-mucoid P. mouse model. We hypothesized more pathogenic compared non-pathogenic ones. PAO1 2192 (mucoid) were used intranasally infect monitor mortality rates. Isolates starved water for at least three months tested infectivity. isolate showed 67% death rate 33% PAO1, suggesting BALB/c mice than PAO1. infected with strain DBA susceptible infection higher strain. results also suggest non-starved bacteria bacteria. extend our study by infecting strains under hindlimb-unloading (HU) conditions Our show HU enhance infection, effect stress physiological changes could lead susceptibility infection. data indicate likely kill all strains.

Antimicrobial susceptibility differences among mucoid and non-mucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most important opportunistic bacteria, causing a wide variety of infections particularly in immunocompromised patients. The extracellular glycocalyx is produced in copious amounts by mucoid strains of P. aeruginosa. Mucoid and non-mucoid P. aeruginosa strains show some differences in their antimicrobial susceptibility pattern. The aim of this study was to in...

Comparisons of Two Proteomic Analyses of Non-Mucoid and Mucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa Clinical Isolates from a Cystic Fibrosis Patient

Pseudomonas aeruginosa chronically infects the lungs of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. The conditions in the CF lung appear to select for P. aeruginosa with advantageous phenotypes for chronic infection. However, the mechanisms that allow the establishment of this chronic infection have not been fully characterized. We have previously reported the transcriptional analysis of two CF isolates str...

High osmolarity is a signal for enhanced algD transcription in mucoid and nonmucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains.

Chronic lung infection with mucoid, alginate-producing strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a major cause of mortality in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Transcriptional activation of the P. aeruginosa algD gene, which encodes GDPmannose dehydrogenase, is essential for alginate synthesis. Activation of algD is dependent on the product of the algR gene. Sequence homology between the P. aeruginosa...

Prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa mucoid and non-mucoid type.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a leading cause of nosocomial infections. One thousand two hundred and twenty strains of mucoid and non-mucoid types of P. aeruginosa isolated from different patients were examined at Siriraj Hospital from January 2001-October 2003. The prevalences of P. aeruginosa mucoid type and non-mucoid type were 3.6% and 96.4%, respectively. Susceptibility testing was performed b...
